Charles Henry Davis OSB was Bishop of Maitland and Coadjutor to Archbishop Polding from 1848 until his untimely death in 1854. The Bishop was renowned for his sanctity, scholarship and capability. He was a talented musician, who took charge of the Saint Mary's Cathedral choir and played the organ during High Mass ! He was also amongst the founding fathers of the University of Sydney.
